Largest transhipment centre for hand-knotted rugs
Tradition & Craftsmanship in Hamburg’s Speicherstadt
Hamburg’s historic Speicherstadt is world-famous – not only for its coffee and spice warehouses, but also as a traditional hub for hand-knotted oriental rugs. The former duty-free port warehouses were built between 1883 and 1927 and make up the largest continuous warehouse complex in the world. Since 2015, the Speicherstadt has been officially recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
While there were nearly 500 rug dealers here in the 1980s and 1990s, only a few dozen remain today. Wahdat Teppiche is proud to be one of the last authentic rug houses in the district – and one of the few that welcome not only wholesale customers, but also tourists, collectors, and interior design enthusiasts. All our rugs are freely accessible, and you are invited to browse and receive expert advice in person.
Wahdat Teppiche – Established in the Speicherstadt since 2002
We have been located in the Speicherstadt since 2002, after previously operating from our wholesale warehouse on today’s Willy-Brandt-Straße. As the only rug dealer in the Speicherstadt offering fully customs-cleared rugs, we ensure a transparent purchase process with no hidden fees.
Come visit us in person and explore our collection – we look forward to welcoming you and providing personal consultation on site.
